Metamorphosis by Matteo Bernasconi

We are excited to announce the new show by Matteo Bernasconi. Join us Thursday 28 March for what promises to be a special night, with the opening night of Metamorphosis by Matteo Bernasconi, coinciding with the first night of Art Month Chippendale! For this special occasion, Peach Black Gallery will open its doors until late for another exciting event!

Matteo’s exhibition Metamorphosis is inspired by the book of Franz Kafka. The work investigates the transformation and the changes that occur in each of us throughout our life span. Metamorphosis can occur at different levels – physically and mentally, and is a transformation that provides an escape from a trap that oneself can be caught in.

Matteo Bernasconi describes the hidden depths of humans. There is an emphasis on duality in peoples personas which is a reoccurring characteristic in each artwork. He shows not only the mere physical appearance, the facade, but he focuses on unveiling something else, unseen beneath the surface. He exposes what the subject is, not who the subject is.

Metamorphosis is composed of an extensive range of works, it has been realised in 2 years time and it includes more than 30 artworks in different mediums. Don’t miss it.

Opening night:  Thursday 28 March, from 6pm

Location: Peach Black Gallery, 97 Regent Street, Chippendale
